Description: 

  • This is a session for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks of all ages and abilities, to socialize and play together at Kerrisdale Pool
  • Your host is Christa Giles (the park Board's Recreation Programmer 2, 2SLGBTQIA+ Inclusion), and her aquatic experience includes 30+ years leading birthday parties, aquafit classes, and sport practices in the pool.
  • Expect to play some classic pool games like Sharks and Minnows, learn some sport skills for Walking Waterpolo, and try some individual events like Christa's "what can you do while balanced on a noodle?" challenges! Games will be inclusive of non-swimmers.
  • No lanes available during this session
  • Kerrisdale Pool is 30m long and has a large shallow area where older children and most adults can stand, PFDs are available to borrow.
  • All changerooms will be marked as "Universal" for this event, with private change stalls available but not required.

    This swim session is for 2SLGBTQIA+ folk of all ages and abilities.

    • If you fall into that broad category, you are welcome, along with your support people if their presence helps to anchor your attendance.
    • At all Park Board Pride swim events, we want to centre folks who are often treated poorly in mainstream swim settings, due to body size, shape, or markings; furriness or other physical differences; gender expression; use of mobility devices, or other qualities that aren’t valued or seen as equal or neutral.
    • All change rooms will be marked as "Universal" for this event, with private change stalls available but not required
    • With 2 lifeguards scheduled, this swim is capped at 60 participants.
    • Leisure Access Subsidy applies.
