Description:
Organic Gardening for a Great Garden! series!
Join us for this in-depth Village Vancouver and WENFN West End Urban Garden Club gardening series taught by Rhiannon Johnson. In sessions 1-3, we'll cover a wide variety of organic veggie gardening topics including why, when, where, and how to start seedlings and plant from seed, starting plants indoors, soil improvement, incorporating pollinators, planning your garden's space and planting schedule, and more! Classes include both information, concepts, and hands-on activities, as well as samples and handouts. With this series, you'll have a chance to plant in your gardening area, check progress with the class, and ask questions as your garden develops. Sign up for one or two workshops -- or join us for the whole series for continued support as you start your garden this spring! We'll have the community seed library present at all classes - you can get some free seeds for your garden or swap or donate some seeds. Advance registration encouraged. FREE for Seniors (50 and over). Sessions 4-6 start in April.
Heathy Soil for a Great Garden!
Suitable for folks who have a gardening space, as well as for anyone who would like to start gardening, you'll learn how to build your soil for a healthy, vibrant veggie garden. Find out how vigorous your soil is and what to add to it to improve its' vitality! If you have a garden, you're invited to bring a CLEAR 1 liter container (with a lid) at least half full of your garden soil, for some simple tests to learn how to improve it with natural fertilizers, soil amendments, and gardening techniques. We'll also learn about composting, tailored to your space, and how it can supplement your garden's health. Advance registration encouraged. FREE for Seniors (50 and over).
