Description

With climate change making our summers drier and longer, the need to water our plants in a responsible way is more important than ever. In this Village Vancouver Westside Neighbourhood Food Network workshop with Dr.Yael Stav, we'll discuss the various options for water-sensitive irrigation, and focus on drip irrigation systems and their benefits. We'll explore irrigation planning in different scenarios, from large gardens through to patio containers, and familiarize ourselves with the typical components of drip irrigation and their setup. We'll also have some free seeds available to take home from one of our community seed libraries. Free for Seniors (50 and over). Part of our 5th Annual Westside Food Festival (June 15-August 2).

Weather permitting, this program will take place at our Community Garden, located on the North side of the property, off of NW Marine Drive. Please arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to start of the program. Please be ready to begin as washroom capacity is limited.

The nature of the activity is such that you may interact with other people who are considered to be in good health, continuous physical distance between other people cannot be guaranteed, and, by participating in the activity, you are at risk of being infected by a pathogen, including but not limited to SARS-COV-2. SARS-COV-2, which causes the disease COVID-19, may exacerbate other health issues and is the cause of an ongoing global pandemic. SARS-COV-2 is highly communicable and dangerous. If you become infected with SARS-COV2, you may transmit it to other people even if you are not exhibiting symptoms of illness.
