Description: In this Village Vancouver Westside Neighbourhood Food Network workshop with CZarina Lobo, you'll create your own small upcycled mason jar holder using cordage made from scrap fibres. We'll show you how to make rope and then use the rope to hand sew coiled baskets. All materials will be provided; bring a mason jar for a mould if you can. We'll have the community seed library present - pick up some free seeds for your garden, swap or donate seeds. Reduced fee for seniors (50 and over).


At Aberthau and McBride Park Fieldhouse, enjoy VV cooking, fermenting, preserving and DIY demonstrations, timely gardening workshops including Grow Your Own Microgreens and other plant, health, holiday, and/or creative eco-art and craft DIY offerings like Mini Macrame Wall Hangings, Cordage, Cattail Containers, Making Beeswax Salves, DIY Sugar Scrubs and Bath Salts, DIY Beeswax Wraps, DIY Crochet Dishcloths, Edible Holiday Gifts in Mason Jars, and our Invasive Species series - Making Invasive Species Drawing Ink, Making Invasive Species Charcoal Pencils, and Paper Making with Invasives. We also offer other activities (most of which are free) such as vertical gardening at McBride Park. and you can pick up free seeds for gardening. (Separate registration required for each activity. and all workshops are free or low cost for Seniors 50 and over.
