Aberthau Community Permaculture and Eco Art Garden (NW Marine Drive between Discovery and Trimble Street) Located behind the Mansion and hosted by Village Vancouver (VV), the garden includes VV's Collaborative Demonstration Permaculture Garden, the WPG Preschool Garden and art/garden projects by our artist residencies. Emphasizing permaculture design elements, it offers fun, inclusive social, educational, culinary, artistic, and cultural activities for community members. At Aberthau and McBride Park Fieldhouse, enjoy VV cooking, fermenting, preserving and DIY demonstrations, timely gardening workshops such as Container and Windowsill Gardening, and Seeds Saving Basics, as well as Grow Your Own Microgreens and Wild Herbal and Mineral Vinegars, and other plant, health, and/or creative DIY offerings like Permaculture Vancouver Meetups, Making Incense 101/Flower Essences, Cordage, Menu Planning, Meal Prep and Mason Jar Salads, DIY Yoghurt and Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese) at Home, Zero Waste in the Kitchen and DIY Beeswax Wraps, Cordage, Making Jute and Wool Baskets, Kantha Sewing, and children's workshops such as Hapa-Zome for Kids, Felting for Kids. We also offer other activities (most of which are free) such as vertical gardening at McBride Park and Community Gardening Opportunity Info Sessions, and you can pick up some seeds for gardening, small planter box kits, and native bee houses (separate registration required for each activity and most workshops are free for seniors ages 50 and over).
