Aberthau Community Permaculture and Eco Art Garden (NW Marine Drive between Discovery and Trimble Street) Located behind the Mansion and hosted by Village Vancouver (VV), the garden includes VV's Collaborative Demonstration Permaculture Garden, the WPG Preschool Garden and art/garden projects by our artist residencies. Emphasizing permaculture design elements, it offers fun, inclusive social, educational, culinary, artistic, and cultural activities for community members. All levels of experience are welcome at our weekly garden work parties, including new gardeners (for more info: ACG@villagevancouver.ca ).
At Aberthau and McBride Park Fieldhouse, enjoy VV cooking, fermenting, preserving and DIY demonstrations, timely gardening workshops such as Spice up Your Garden with Garlic and Planning Your Spring Garden as well as Growing Your Own Microgreens, children's workshops including Hapa-Zome and Natural Pigments, and other plant, health, and and/or creative DIY offerings like Cattail Containers, Delving into Natural Dyes, Making Beeswax Salves, Making Incense 101/Flower Essences, HeArt for the Soul: Echinacea - Restoring the Ability to Self-Heal and HeArt for the Soul: Rosemary - Restoring the Ability to Self-Heal. We also offer other activities (most of which are free) such as Permaculture Vancouver Meetups, Community Gardening Opportunity Info Sessions, and vertical gardening at McBride, and you can pick up some seeds for gardening, a small planter box kit, a native bee house, and/or seedlings (when available). (Separate registration required for each activity. and all workshops are free for Seniors 50 and over.) Proof Of Vaccination
- Effective September 13, people aged 12+ will need to show proof of vaccination to get into certain programs, events, and services at this facility. - It is recommended that you arrive early for your activity in order to show proof of vaccination if required.
Communicable Disease Health & Safety Practices

- Participants should assess themselves daily for symptoms of common cold, influenza, COVID-19, or other infectious respiratory disease before attending a program.
- Participants who are ill, including participants of essential service providers, should not attend a program or access the Community Centre. If you are unsure, you should self-isolate and contact 8-1-1 or the local public health unit.
- Registration and payment is required for most programs to help reduce the capacity to allow for physical distancing. Limited drop-ins may be permitted, depending on the facility.
- All participants are encouraged to practice proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette by covering coughs or sneezes.
Refund Policy
Full refunds will be issued minus a $5 administrative fee for all programs cancelled prior to the start date of the program. Pro-rated refunds, based upon the number of classes that have passed, will be provided for classes cancelled after the start date and where instruction has been provided. Anyone who is unable to attend a program due to a change of date or time will be provided with a full refund for that class.
