Description: Canadian singers have played prominent roles on the most important opera stages for more than a century, the line starting with Emma Albani in the late 19th century and continuing into the 21st with such artists as Gerald Finley, Adrianne Pieczonka, Barbara Hannigan, Ben Heppner and Russell Braun. This five-week course explores the richness of Canada’s grand vocal tradition as documented in the history of recording from the acoustic era to the HD video transmissions of our own time.
