Description:
Eager to tune up your pipes and learn to sing like a pro? This no-pressure class will show you how.
In this class, aspiring vocalists will be trained in the ability to accurately read basic melodies (in both major and minor keys) by sight, a complex and demanding skill. Simple rhythmic patterns and the ability to work through more challenging rhythms and melodies will also be explored, in addition to study in the Moveable Do, Takadimi and Curwen hand-sign systems.
The course is demanding, but the atmosphere is always fun and relaxed.
Class begins with exercises to warm up pitch and rhythm-reading skills before moving on to exploration of the previous week?s assignment. Students can raise questions and seek advice on specific challenges they faced in practice. Later, the week's concept is introduced and students move on to practicing melodies.
This is a beginner level course. Adults who are preparing for university or choral auditions or for RCM examinations; choral singers and voice students who wish to improve their sight singing skills are welcome.
