Description: This class will meet in-person at the RCM.


Open the door to the sounds of Brazil! Learn traditional Brazilian music through the study of Samba de Raiz - hand drumming, vocal techniques, and body movement. Develop musicianship skills, using fun oral and aural devices together with hands on playing of typical samba instruments: pandeiro, rebolo, tamborim, surdo, reco reco, atabaque, chocalho, cavaquinho, and more. Students will study the repertoire of the Samba de Raiz or Pagode tradition. All instruments provided or bring your own.
