About the Instructor:Early music specialist Katherine Hill enjoys an active performing and recording career, primarily as a singer, here in Toronto and abroad, with various early, traditional and new music groups.
She holds an M.A. in Medieval Studies from the University of Toronto's world-renowned Centre for Medieval Studies, and a diploma from the Eric Sahlström Institute in Sweden, where she studied the nyckelharpa (a Swedish keyed fiddle with origins in the middle ages) and Swedish traditional music and dance.
Over the years, she has cultivated particular interests in the development of music notation in the West, as well as the music of women's communities in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, performing in and directing projects all over Europe and Canada.
