The Preparation for Professional Division at the School of Alberta Ballet offers training to young dancers who are interested in pursuing the Professional Division in Grade 7 and aspire to have a professional dance career. Students in Grade 5 and 6 will attend a dance only after school program that focusses on building a strong technical foundation of ballet technique. Core program classes will include a ballet class and a secondary class of either preparation for pointe work/ pointe work, choreographic workshop and modern dance. Students will be assessed throughout the program in order to determine their readiness and potential to apply for the full time Professional Division. As this program is designed to help prepare students for the demands and expectations of the Professional Division, a sense of commitment, passion and self-motivation are required to meet the high standards of this program. Students and their families should be keenly aware of this commitment and investment before beginning the program.
