      Description: 

      Public Skating Rules

      • See additional notes for when you arrive for your ice time.
      • We reserve the right to limit the number of skaters on the ice at one time.
      • Skate only in the direction set by skate patrol.
      • No food or drinks allowed on the ice.
      • Training bars are to remain in the beginners’ area.
        Note: no training bars provided.
      • Strollers, sleighs, hockey sticks and footwear (other than skates) are NOT allowed on the ice surface.
      • No throwing objects (elbow pad, gloves).
      • No piggyback skating (including parents carrying their child).
      • Penalty box, players’ benches are out of bounds.
      • No dangerous skating (i.e. tag, crack the whip, fast skating, weaving through traffic, backwards skating, spins or figure skating).
      • Cell phones are not to be used while skating, please leave the ice surface if you get a call.
      • We strongly recommend the use of a CSA-approved hockey helmet and face mask for all ages.
      • Any persons violating these rules or behaving in a disorderly manner will be asked to leave the area.
      • Arena doors may be locked 15 minutes after programming – please ensure you arrive on time.

      Notes:

      When you arrive for your ice time...

      • Arena doors may be locked 15 minutes after programming – please ensure you arrive on time.
      • Please complete a COVID-19 questionnaire before arriving at the facility.
      • Please remain in your vehicle until 10–15 minutes before your class time (time differs by arena).
      • Arrive wearing everything except your skates to limit time in the facility.
      • Please arrive with the participant’s name on the front of the helmet.
      • Pay attention to signage so you know which entrance/exit corresponds with your ice time.
      • Please wear a mask while inside the facility.
      • Please sanitize hands upon entering the facility.
      • On the first day, see the staff at the check-in table for class locations.
      • Walk directly to your designated zone (follow signage).
      • Maintain social distancing (2 metres) throughout the facility.


      Precautions

      • You are reminded to exercise precautions to protect against the spread of illness
      • Everyone should practice good handwashing hygiene and wash your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds and dry them thoroughly—if you are unable to wash your hands, use an alcohol-based hand cleanser
      • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, or cough or sneeze into your sleeve—throw used tissues in the garbage and immediately wash your hands, or use an alcohol-based hand cleanser
      • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
      • Minimize prolonged (more than 10 minutes), close (less than two meters/six feet) contact with individuals in public
      • Avoid travel, crowded places and events, especially if you are at higher risk(e.g. seniors and those with underlying medical conditions)
      • If you are unwell, stay at home
