Description: The babysitting course created by the Canadian Red Cross helps youngsters age 11+ learn what to do in the event of an emergency. The course also offers an overview of the basic responsibilities that go with being a babysitter, and how youth can reduce the risks of certain incidents by practicing safety tips and learning essential child care abilities. Please bring pens, lunch, a snack, refillable water bottle and comfy clothes. Space is limited, register today. Class fee does not include the manual fee $16 cash or cheque made out to Lifesavers on the day for the babysitters new manual, which is mandatory.
Biography:Amanda trained as a paramedic at the Justice Institute and worked for BC Ambulance for almost eight years. This career then segued into becoming a Training Partner with the Red Cross, teaching many levels of first aid, from the babysitters program to first responders. Recent endeavours include Emergency Planning, and promoting more access to automated external defibrillators. She has volunteered on many boards such as the Children?s Centre, Bowen Island Community School, Caring Circle, the Community Chest Foundation and is one of the leaders for the Sun Run training.
