Description:
The Boys & Girls Club Sports League will offer a 12 week sports league that will focus on ?Learn to Train? described in the Long Term Athlete Development manual.
· Overall sport skills development
· Major skill learning stage: all basic sport skills should be learned before Train to Train stage
· Integrated mental, cognitive and emotional development
· Introduction to mental preparation (resiliency)
· Develop strength through use of own body weight
· Further identification and development of talents
· Sport-specific training through practice and game play
Our sports leagues will consist of 12 weeks of program plus a final tournament for all participants. Teams will be divided into two divisions for the regular season based on proximity to each other.
Northern Division: Coboconk, Kirk field, Fenelon Falls and Bobcaygeon
Southern Division: Lindsay, Little Britain, Manvers and Omemee
Regular season will consist of weekly league games and practices within each division. Teams will practice within their home community with a focus on fun, skill development and game play. All games will be hosted at I.E. Weldon (Southern Division) and Fenelon Falls Secondary (Northern Division). For those who do not have access to transportation please select "yes" when prompted during your registration. Regular season results will seed teams for final tournament at the end of the season.
End of Season Tournament will be hosted at I.E. Weldon Highschool and will include both divisions. Teams will play cross over games with four championship finals. Players will receive medals at the completion of their tournament.
All participants within the program will received a team jersey (shirt) and medal to finish the season.
Notes:Required waivers are to be completed prior to program and then annually each April. For this program the BGCKL programs & services waiver is required.
